    Vote for removal

    Hi,

Please add some option where people can vote for removal of outdated, malware, stealing scripts.

For exmaple if a script receives 3 times as much "Remove" votes as "Keep" votes, after a total of 100 votes, the script gets deleted.

Show that script is already installed in Greasemonkey

This could eliminate the need to install a style when it's already in Greasemonkey. Stylish has this on their site, and also when a style is updated it says: Style has been updated since your last install.

Add an amount of unique installs for userscripts.
This way you can get a better track of the amount of users, using a particular userscript.

Implement "flag as spam" in the forums
    planned

This would hopefully eliminate the need for the "Spam and malware" topic. Also, a better system to actually follow through and remove spam (eg. I've personally had spam in comments of one of my scripts for weeks, I flagged it and posted on the forums and it's still not been removed - http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9580#comment-38856).

Possibility to show in what browsers script works.
    planned

Scripts that don't use "GM_*" can work at Firefox (with Gresemonkey), Opera and probably at more browsers. Maybe scriptwriters can mark at what browsers their script can work correctly. And it will be show on the right as a small icons (they can work as a link to FAQ for specified browser). Or You can search on server for "GM_*" tags, and mark scripts as working only at Firefox or (if You don't find any "GM_*") Firefox and others.

Multiple authors of the same script

If one person creates a script initially, then another person alters it substantially (or rewrites it but provides the same features), it would be nice if the second author could be added as an admin for that script for credit where credit is due, and for future maintenance.

    Links black list for spammer

Each time that a spam post is removed from the forum, if it contains links, these are added to a black list, if a new post has a link contained in the black list it will considered as a spam post as well and trashed directly.

A frontpage describing the site and its purpose for new user
    planned

This would contain a SHORT description of what Greasemonkey is (and maybe UserJS, GreaseKit etc.) and how to install scripts (so new users won't ask this in forums).

Followed of course by a nice friendly welcome from the site admins :) and then whatever else. Maybe a short FAQ for new people as well, or links to reccommended reading. Just general helpfullness.

P.S. I think this could be seen as a duplicate of some other ideas mentioned before, but I have read through them all and they are either poorly worded and difficult to understand, or less specific (there's an idea suggesting having links to an FAQ page - my idea just suggests a helpful frontpage so there's no need for FAQ)

Implement some form of "deprecated" tag for old scripts

Some scripts may no longer work but can be of use to some people for coding or interest reasons. Since a majority of users won't want to install such a script, there should be some way of unlisting a script without actually removing it.

    Allow to upload resource files

Allow the scriptwriter to upload together with the script also resource files. I find the possibility to include resource files very powerful, overall if you want to write a multi-language script. Removing all the texts from the script reduce its size and the script became also more readable. Also the translation of the texts will became more simple and accurate.

Show New Comments/responses - Alert Author

I continuously go to each of the scripts I left a comment on seeing if someone responds. It would be great if there was a "New!" tag on the comments page next to your responses indicating there were new comments. It would also be great if the author was notified (optionally) when a comment is left on his script so they can know whether their script is broken or needs attention.

add as-you-type preview of posted comments
    planned

The current post filtering rules are probably easy enough to emulate client side to give a live preview of how your post will look as you submit it (should lessen the amount of test posts, and need of editing one's own comments). I think I'll volunteer implementing this some nice weekend too. :-)

share revenue from adsense ads with script authors

i figure by now, the site must be making enough money to cover costs of hosting, plus more

an option for script authors to add their adsense code, if they have them, and then randomly using their code on pages detailing their scripts, would be a cool option, and encourage more people to add their scripts

Integrate with github, improving collaborative development

Today, the hurdles for collaborative script development (accepting fixes and improvements on your own scripts, and providing them on those of others) has rather high hurdles and is largely a manual process mediated by the (for that purpose not very well adapted) script comments system.

Letting users host their scripts (and their @require / @resource dependencies, for GM 0.8+ only scripts) on their github account would address that problem well.

    allow merging of tags

This would make it easier to find all the relevant scripts you're searching for. For example, the following tags could all be consolidated: Googlemaps, gmap, gmaps, google maps, googlemap, googlemaps, maps.google.com.

Let users vote to merge tags. After a sufficient number of votes, automatically merge them.

    Developer feedback system for Scripts

Why don't we have an ebay-like rating system?

Positive feedback for good scripts, negative feedback and a spam flag for the crappy dudes
    who just recycle other scripts.

In the right side of the page where it shows
    "Written by
    superdeveloper
    Has 20 other scripts.
Has 90% Positive Feedback with 100 Feedbacks"

So if you're a newbie in the site and you want to download a script you look at the feedback level for the user and you decide if he's trustworthy or not.

If the script is really new from a new user and is stealing cookies or doing something harmful perhaps the fact that you see that the user has 0% feedback level would be an indication that

    a) the script developer is really new
    b) the script sucks

In order not to be sued out of existance from ebay you can call the feedback mechanism "rotten bananas" or something

Provide feed for an author's scripts
    planned

I'd like to subscribe to a given author and be notified every time s/he posts something new. Over the time I have found a couple of people which generate lots of great ideas and/or have a very good programming style. The currently available feeds are great but fail to offer this information.

A good idea. Perhaps I should switch making a favorite to "follow" like it is on github. On github you can "follow" a project or person, and your get a activity feed on them.
